[Foreword]

If you have never coded before, starting a website can be daunting. Fear not: it's a lot easier than you think.
Creating a website is similar to solving a puzzle. The endeavour requires creativity and problem-solving in equal
measure. HTML and CSS are languages that anyone can understand and start working with because they are relatively
plain in construction. If you have ever formatted a forum post, you are likely already familiar with HTML tags
like <img> and <b>. As you learn to wield these tools, you may become overwhelmed by how much they can do. Keep
breathing and don't let their power distract from their beautiful simplicity. At the end of the day, it's just
nesting divs.

You are now on the path to unlocking an old and long-forgotten tradition. May your journey be spiritually rewarding.
The future of this weird and wonderful invention we call the internet rests in your hands. Every time you and
someone like you makes the switch from the centralized to the decentralized and indie web, you spit in the face of
trillions of dollars in venture capital. There's nothing more beautiful to me than that.
